Wash Our Hands, Pilipinas!

We are excited to announce that the Philippine Society of Gastroenterology (PSG) has partnered with the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong, Pasig, and San Juan (RC ManPaSan) and Happy Tap Philippines to launch the “Wash Our Hands, Pilipinas!” Project. This initiative aims to promote hygiene and prevent disease transmission through proper hand washing.

On August 6, 2024, we held a turnover ceremony where 50 portable hand wash stations were donated to Bagumbayan Elementary School and Navotas Elementary School 1 in Navotas. The event was graced by Navotas Mayor Hon. John Reynald Tiangco, along with school principals and DepEd officials.

PSG President Dr. Ian Cua led a Gastro Health Talk to educate students on maintaining a healthy diet and preventing gastrointestinal diseases, while PSG PRO Dr. Benjamin Perez conducted a handwashing demo. We also launched the first issue of Tiya Neneng Comics, a visual aid for teaching proper handwashing, which was distributed to the students.

Happy Tap Philippines’ Country Director, Mrs. Vanna Gonzales-Rodriguez, shared that the portable wash stations are made from recycled materials and can last for up to 10 years. RC ManPaSan also donated soaps to promote effective handwashing.

This project will benefit around 3,000 students, teachers, and school staff. PSG aims to extend this initiative to other schools nationwide with the help of our chapters and sponsors.
